BlazePod vs FitLight vs FitLight Jr: what’s the difference?

Have you ever considered a Flash Reflex Training system? It sounds more complex than it is.

Put simply, it is a wireless reaction training system. It consists of lights and sensors with pre-programmed exercises to help you increase agility, reaction time, coordination and more.

Some of the best options out there include BlazePod and FitLight. In this article I look at the differences between them.

BlazePod vs FitLight vs FitLight Jr: Design and hardware

BlazePod is a very popular choice. The standard kit comes with 4 programmable RGB LED pods that shine in one of 8 colors. All the gear is water-resistant and UV protected so you can train indoors and out.

There are also other options you can purchase. All the way up to the Professional bundle which includes 12 pods. Or you can opt for the basic kit and purchase accessories separately if you feel you need them. The maximum number of pods you can connect is 24 but you are not going to need that many.

Moving on to FitLight and here you get the regular and FitLight Jr option. Both function in a very similar way to BlazePod.

The difference between the two FitLights is that the 8 pods that come with the high spec version shine in one of 6 colors (versus 3) and you get a 10″ tablet plus access to the FitFlight dashboard. FitLight Jr comes with a smaller 7″ tablet and no access to the dashboard. It also doesn’t allow for customizable training programs.

You don’t need a tablet with BlazePod. It works entirely via the iOS and Android smartphone app. This might suit some but not others. It does help to keep the cost of the product down as you are using something that you already own.

There are other differences, as well. BlazePod can keep going up to 8 hours on a single charge, the FitLights around 4 hours. That is quite a big difference.

What works in FitLights favor is the Bluetooth range. The pods can work up to a distance of 75 meters from the controller versus the 40 meter maximum distance for BlazePod.

Here’s a detailed look at the specs.

Deactivation of lights can be done in a variety of ways, including with your hands, feet, heavy wall balls, boxing gloves and more. However, one important difference between BlazePod and FitLight is that the later has two modes of activation. This means that with BlazePod you can tap the lights to trigger them. FitLight also allows for proximity deactivation.

Other than that the two products are very similar. Both offer innovative ways to improve performance through dynamic training regimes.

FitLight has some things in its favor as well. The main is that it offers both proximity and touch activation/deactivation. The fact that the system comes with its own Tablet also makes it better suited for gyms and corporate environments.
